Welcome to the Psychotherapy, Hypnosis and EMDR web site for Susan Lee Bady, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Certified Diplomate.
I am a spiritually oriented psychotherapist, hypnotist and EMDR practitioner with 26 years of experience helping people from very diverse backgrounds with a wide range of difficulties. I work with individuals and couples in long and short-term therapy. I have experienced as a patient all of the methods and modalities with which I work. Thus, from my own experience, I know how powerful therapy can be - especially when enhanced by the inclusion of EMDR and Hypnosis. These additions can help increase suggestibility for change and open up unconscious processes to facilitate growth by reprocessing traumatic memories and negative thoughts more quickly.

In addition to my work as a clinician, I teach and supervise therapists in both psychotherapy and hypnosis. I directed the Hypnosis Institute at the Park Slope Center for Mental Health in Brooklyn from 1995 to 2001. I am also past-President of the New York Society of Clinical Hypnosis from 1997-2000 and current vice-president since Fall, 2004. I am a hypnosis consultant with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. My experience in administration and program development balances my knowledge of healing methods with a pragmatic understanding of the world in which we all live.

I began my therapy career in psychoanalytic psychotherapy in order to obtain a solid classical base. In addition to my hypnosis and EMDR background I am a student of other alternative healing modalities including meditation, yoga, and the Alexander Technique. I have received treatment in acupuncture and therapeutic touch, and explore these modalities both for my own development and to expand my knowledge of other healing methods for my patients' benefit.

I believe that a successful therapy stems from the quality and the strength of the relationship between patient and therapist. I feel that the more a therapist is involved in her own healing process, the better she can inspire the miracle of the patient's growth. As Albert Einstein said "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is."
